The Palais du Trocadero visible in the background of the picture no longer exists ! The style of this palace, built in 1878 at the occasion of the world's fair, was a mixture of exotic and historical references, generally called "moorish" but with some byzantine elements. It was demolished and replaced by the Palais de Chaillot in 1937 for the Exposition Internationale.
